Silje Nergaard & Espen Berg

In 2017 Silje ventured into an exciting new collaboration with the award-winning jazz pianist Espen Berg, who is considered to be one of Norway’s most aspiring and talented jazz pianists. The duo has since then traveled the world and received amazing feedback for their concerts.

Silje and Espen are re-interpreting Silje’s classic songs in an intimate evening with a collection of her best songs, including Be Still My Heart, Japanese Blue, and Tell Me Where You’re Going. They are making it a very special, intimate and personal experience with songs beautifully stripped down to the core, all while staying in dialogue with the audience, revealing the personal stories behind the songs.

As the acclaimed world-class pianist Espen is, his undisputed talent makes Silje’s crystal clear voice stand out even further in its beautiful essence. This is truly a remarkable collaboration – a duo giving you a concert experience that is nothing short of pure medicine for your ears, heart and soul.

Silje Nergaard has become an established international jazz artist and traveled the world with her songs for decades. She has released 19 albums and received Årets Spellemann in 2003. Her album At First Light is Norway’s best-selling jazz album of all time, and she has also made recordings with, among others, Al Jarreau, Morten Harket and Pat Metheny.

Espen Berg has traveled the world with his trio since 2014. He has released a dozen albums as a leader, the latest one being a solo piano live-recording of freely improvised music, which has been compared to Keith Jarrett’s famous solo concerts by British press. His trio was recently declared one of the most important jazz trios on the world by Jazz Critique Magazine (Japan), and their third album Free To Play was listed in Downbeat (US) as one of the best releases in 2019.

The duo gives you a concert experience that is pure medicine for ears, heart and soul.
